Kahani (Premise)

Fort Kochi. Antony Yakuza (Jayasurya) ek chhota-mota gunda hai jiska bada sapna hai — underworld me izzat. Apne tech-savvy roommate Anwar (Nihal Nizam) ke saath wo apne future ke liye ek aakhri bada heist plan karta hai, aur getaway driver ke roop me Rejimon (Vinayakan) ko team me jodta hai. Plan simple lagta hai — par Rejimon ke apne chhupe iraade hain, aur jaise hi heist control se bahar nikalta hai, teenon angels aur demons ke beech ek ajeeb jung me phas jaate hain, jahan reality aur fantasy ka farak dhundla pad jaata hai.

Tagline hai: “Different Games, Different Rules.”

Performances

First-show viewers ne sabse zyada tareef Vinayakan ki ki — unke mass appeal aur screen presence ko kai tweets me alag se mention mila. Jayasurya apne typical zone me hain (Antony Yakuza ka naam hi trailer se charcha me hai) — viewers ne unki performance ko solid bataya, aur unki-Vinayakan ki comic jodi ko film ka sabse entertaining hissa. Nihal Nizam (Anwar) sidekick ke roop me kaam karte hain, aur Indrans ka naam bhi positive reactions me aaya. Rapper Baby Jean ka important role hai — trailer aur posters me unki presence notice hui hai. Ensemble ke baaki chehre: Sunny Wayne, Suresh Krishna aur Manikanda Rajan.

Direction Aur Technical Side

Prince Joy ki ye teesri film hai — aur unki pehli Anugraheethan Antony (2021) bhi ek fantasy thi (life-after-death theme), to ye genre unke liye naya nahi. Trailers aur first reactions se lagta hai ki unhone heist-comedy ko fantasy me badalne ka ambitious swing liya hai. VFX ko viewers ne budget ke hisaab se impressive bataya — “A Super Hero Movie without any Super Hero cast” wali feel kuch viewers ko aayi. Music Dawn Vincent ka hai, cinematography Vishnu Sharma ki, editing Shameer Muhammed ki. Production design me Western-inspired look (coloured suits, hats) posters se hi charcha me tha — film me ye fantasy world ka hissa hai.

Par technical side par ek criticism bhi aayi: kuch viewers ko laga ki fantasy world aur uske characters (Vinayakan ke role sahit) me poori conviction nahi aayi — concept bada, par uska execution uneven.

Formal Critics Kya Keh Rahe Hain

Release ke agle din tak formal critic reviews aa gaye — aur tasveer first-show optimism se kaafi neeche hai:

  • The Indian Express: 1/5 (Ananthu Suresh) — “tiring, unfunny disaster”. Sabse sakht verdict.
  • NDTV: 2/5 — “fails to take off”.
  • TimelineDaily: 2.5/5 — “good intention, bad execution”.
  • Mathrubhumi English: 3/5 (Salma Sulthana) — “worth one-time watch with family”. Sabse naram mainstream verdict.
  • Malayala Manorama: Positive (R. B. Sheelekha ne ise “good entertainer” kaha; numeric rating nahi).

Critic consensus: ~2/5 — concept me intention achha, execution me film bikhar jaati hai. First-show viewers ka “second half predictable” wala point critics ne aur tez shabdon me dohraya.

First-Show Audience Kya Keh Rahi Thi

Formal critic reviews (TOI, Indian Express waghera) abhi tak publish nahi hue hain — Thursday release hai, to ye Early Verdict first-show audience reactions par based hai:

  • Pinkvilla (7 tweets ka roundup, 2:31 PM IST): ek viewer ne kaha concept exciting tha par weak scripting/direction ne nuksaan kiya — first half enjoyable, effective humour, Jayasurya ki achhi performance; second half disappointing, predictable climax, aur 120-minute runtime lambi lagi. Doosre viewer ne kaha excellent plot par average screenplay — Vinayakan ki performance aur dono ki comedy sequences ki tareef, overall “one-time watch”. Teesre viewer ne ise “grounded reimagining of good vs evil” kaha — Vinayakan ka mass appeal, comedy aur VFX ki tareef, “entertaining watch”.
  • TimelineDaily: viewers ka overall mood “overwhelming” bataya — “exciting idea executed decently with ample humour and fantasy elements”; kuch ne kaha kahani traditional good-vs-evil concept ka grounded rework hai.
  • Filmibeat: early impressions mixed-positive — plot summary ke saath note kiya ki wider response abhi clear hoga.

Consensus abhi tak: ~3/5 — ek baar dekhne layak, par second half weak. Isi par hamari provisional rating 6/10 hai.

Box Office: Kamzor Shuruaat

  • Day-1 (22 Oct, Sacnilk via TOI): ₹0.65 cr net / ₹0.75 cr gross — 844 shows, 23% occupancy, 49,252 footfalls. Kerala se ₹0.70 cr gross (kul ka 93.3%) — film lagbhag poori tarah home state par dependent hai.
  • Day-2 (23 Oct, live dopahar tak, Tenvow): sirf ₹0.04 cr gross / ₹0.03 cr net — −95.38% ka crash. Total ab tak: India net ₹0.68 cr, gross ₹0.80 cr.
  • Matlab saaf hai: WOM ne kaam nahi kiya. First-show ka mixed-positive mood aam audience tak nahi pahuncha, aur critics ke 1–2.5 stars ne rahi-sahi ummeed bhi tod di.

Kiske Liye Hai Ye Film

  • Jayasurya–Vinayakan ki jodi ke fans: In dono ki comic chemistry film ka sabse strong hissa batayi ja rahi hai — iske liye ticket banta hai.
  • Fantasy-comedy pasand karne wale: Heist se angels-vs-demons tak ka concept fresh hai; VFX budget se upar ka lagega.
  • Family audience: U/A 16+ hai — chhote bachchon ke liye parental guidance recommended.
  • Tight screenplay chahne wale: Thoda intezaar karo — second half par first-show viewers divided hain; critic reviews aane do.
  • Malayalam na samajhne wale: Film sirf Malayalam me hai, subtitles ka option check karke jaiye.
